Teaching students international relations and policy through simulated diplomacy in a collaborative environment.
Our mission.
Through having attendees research and debate on real world topics, VMUN is committed to teaching the leaders and diplomats of tomorrow real skills that will accompany them through their education and careers.
VMUN is a one day Model United Nations conference hosted by Lynbrook High School, in which participants take part in parliamentary debate.
VMUN gives delegates the chance to see the problems which the United Nations face through participating in General Assemblies simulating different committees of the U.N., faced with complex topics. Delegates are assigned the role of a country, and over the day, they collaborate with other delegates to come to a joint resolution on the committee’s topic, learning invaluable skills through the process.

Public Speaking & Collaboration
In committee, delegates must express their viewpoint and reconcile it with the different interests at play in each committee, working together to create joint solutions. Students learn to better communicate, and gain more confidence through public speaking, working with other delegates to create solutions and defending their resolutions.
Geopolitical Knowledge
Delegates create unique solutions to real world topics which real leaders, policymakers, and diplomats experience every day, gaining a rock-solid understanding of how these complex problems are solved, all while broadening their horizons on both current and past events.
In order to participate in VMUN, delegates are required to research and write a position paper on their committee topic, giving an analysis on the state of the topic, an evaluation of past action on the topic, and giving their proposed solutions.
Through this, delegates learn about the methodology required to research complex geopolitical topics, analyzing past solutions to formulate solutions of their own to write concrete policy.
